Pediatric Care

One common myth about hospice care is that it is only for the elderly. LifeTouch Health actually cares for patients of all ages, including children. As the only hospice provider in the state with a team of experienced medical, grief and support professionals dedicated specifically to pediatric care, LifeTouch Health provides an additional layer of supportive care for pediatric patients, parents and families.

Current Care with Comfort Support

Utilizing LifeTouch Health support services does not mean giving up hope. For families of seriously ill children ages 20 and younger, LifeTouch Health offers an option called concurrent care. This allows families of pediatric patients to continue pursuing a cure, while also receiving the benefits and comforts of LifeTouch Health care. LifeTouch Health served the state’s first concurrent care patient in 2013 and continues to help seriously ill children and their families gain access to the care and emotional support they need. LifeTouch Health can help pediatric patients when:

  • There is a life-limiting prognosis

  • Patient and family request expert symptom control and pain management rather than, or in addition to, aggressive, curative treatment

  • The illness has advanced and there are questions about options of care

  • The patient is birth through age 20
